This is a picture of an old, old weather beaten sun-dried and very dead uprooted tree.
I came across this beside a trail on the northern edge of Bryce Canyon in southern Utah.

Further up the same trail the great redstone cliffs start to make themselves felt.
I would have very much liked to have hiked down to the canyon floor - it must surely be awesome from the bottom. Time, middle-age and creaking bones put an end to that thought!

My wife captured this shot of a gull - maybe a Herring Gull? - in the process of leaving it’s perch to take flight across English Bay in Vancouver BC. This was taken from Grafton Island.

I took this late afternoon shot of one of those great, long, American goods trains - a Union Pacific.
It is crossing the Ohio River at Harper’s Ferry, Virginia - where the Ohio meets the great Shenandoah and John Brown came to his violent end.
