Security Reminder: If you are still using version 3.0 or 3.0.1 then your site is at risk from hackers and you should upgrade immediately.
After a long gestation period and a name change, I am at last able to release Simple:Press Forum version 3.0. This is an optional upgrade to existing users and a required upgrade or installation for anyone using WordPress version 2.5 (to be released soon).
Version 3.0 is largely a response to user requests and the list of changes and new features is long. Big ticket items include ‘pretty/SEO friendly’ permalinks, private messaging (first cut) and a sophisticated user permissions sub-system.
For those current non-English speaking users, check the languages list before upgrading as it takes a while for the files to become available for a new version. For those users who have carried out extensive customisation please be aware that Version 3 has made many unavoidable changes to the CSS and you may wish to work with the new CSS files before installing.
Unlike 2.1, I have included skins and icon sets in the download as well as currently available language files.
Finally, please note also that Version 2.1 will still be available for download - at least for a short while and can be found here.

thanks again for this gorgeous plugin. I updated from 2.1 to 3.0 yesterday and it just worked perfect including the modified styles I used in 2.1 (which surprised me…).

Hi! I’m make translation for vis plugin into russian and found some problems then testing this version:
1. if i use cyrillic symbols in forum name or in forum topic name - then i got cyrrillic URL that not worked!
2. then i got error (see above) about notcorrected url, and if i repeat new topic create operation then i got database error
in old version 2.1(b.237) all operations work correctly.
