If nothing selected, menu hangs open

Always loved your admin menu/theme work Andy Wink

After installing latest (2.2.1) version I noticed while editing a post that a menu was hanging down. I would have to move the cursor over then above the menu (collapsing it) then circle around the menu (careful not to activate it) and click in the edit window to type without a menu hanging down…

Any idea what’s happening? I’m using WP 2.2.2 and latest update of Firefox…

Sorry if I missed this having been addressed elsewhere!

I have seen this myself. I think I get used to keeping my cursor out of there! As you are probably aware, the actual dropdown part is javascript and is not mine so I’ll put a question up on their support forum.

Actually I’ll do some tests first. It might be that I am trying to close it down too quickly… I’ll check and if I get anywhere I’ll report back.

I have put in a support request on this and have also now managed to isolate what is going on.

If you open the ‘Write > Post’ page - for example - and then drop down a menu it will close up correctly if at the exact position you remove the mouse from the menu is not an input field or textarea control. At least, this is the case with Firefox. On other controls, fieldsets, text etc., then it seems to behave correctly. And this is why it is noticeable on this page as the top is filled with the post heading and content edit areas.

This could be a tricky one to debug but, as I say, I have asked for some help and advice.

I thought for sure this was it.

But I downloaded their zip, got the Nov. 13th chrome.js, installed it and it didn’t seem to make a difference.

But then, neither does changing disablemenuclick: true, to false…

I think it’s a slightly more subtle problem… sadly!

I don’t even remember the one the thread refers to - but I am up to date with the version  I am using. Well - I am pretty sure I am but I guess I best double check…

I agree (subtle).

I ran through some tests and nothing budged. Thought I saw a difference with PHP 5.x on my local server with WP 2.2.1 but I couldn’t get anything consistent.

Even tried the ‘famed’ IE7 fix by adding position:static; to the hover css-properties. Nada.

Not that famous… I don’t know it. Please don’t tell me youre using IE7… that would be a much worse sin than me using tables…. Innocent
