Hi Andy - great plugin,
i try to translate it into German so that you can provide the translated plugin. Would this be a good idea?

I have some questions to the plugin:
For what reason does the plugin show the “bad url”-message on the options page? and how to fix a bad url. Can you describe this function a little bit more that I can translate it in the right way?

thx

Hi. OK first one. ‘Bad’ means that the plugin cannot find the file specified in the download. ‘Good’, of course, means that it can. I have a suspicion that under some strange WP installs in sub-folders etc,., that this just might be incorrect but it is there as a guide.

As for translation, I’m not sure yet how WP does it’slocalisation. I know I need to put support into the plugin for it but I am still to find out how this works. Certainly it’s not a separate version but travels with a language file. Do you know how?

Hi Andy,

thanks for the additional explanation of “bad” and “good” links ;).

well - the translation topic… hmm I know that there are some plugins which come with a separate .mo-file providing the translation data. As I recognized Spam Karma 2 and Van Lommel’s Run PHP are using a translation via the .mo-file. So you could ask the authors if they will help you.
My idea was to translate it “hardcoded” because there are only some paraphrases to translate.

Well I wont talk you out of it but I would be unable to suport it and there are a lot of changes coming down the pipeline. We really do need to do this properly with proper language files… I just need to try and find the time to look into the correct approach. It’s on my list to do as soon as I can but I first want to iron out the bugs and get a few things done that need doing.

Thank you. The Download Counter would be a good one to start with as it’s quite small. I started to read up on this last night but gave up as I was tired and needed some sleep at 2 in the morning! It’s worth taking a look here:
