Too many WP queries issue

For so many days I've been suffering from slow loading on my Cheap Cars for Sale blog. I decided to do an analysis of all the active plugins to find out the cause and here is the finding:

SIMPLE:PRESS FORUM.!!!!

That's very sad news. I thought that this plugin won't do too much if the page is not the actual forum page. However, reality is that even on homepage, post, other pages, categories, tags, all, the plugin increase the queries load by over 280.That's right, 280 queries on other pages.

That's not the end of the story. The actual forum page has additional 390 queries. That's right, nearly 400 more quieries.

That's total of 280+390 = 670 queries added to the load on forum page.

For proof, please look at my web page's source at the very bottom you will see the number of queries and load time.

Now, I don't really care how many queries added to the forum page. Of course, the less the merrier. But I really concern about the 280 extra queries on the other pages. That's my concern since the very start of trying Simple:Press Forum, the load.

I love this plugin, so I'm writing so much about it. Could you please, in the next version, try to reduce the load? Do something to smartly include the other heavy files only when it's the forum page. That shall be so great.

Thanks for the plugin and awaiting for the next fixes.

I have been  through this before. Indeed I think I replied to you on this topic earlier. So you can do a search perhaps to find previous answers.

However, what is new is your claim on the number of queries being actioned on non-forum pages. I have no idea where 280 are coming from unless, perhaps, you are using multiple template tags.

This site uses two template tags on non-forum pages. The 'PM' tag and the 'Announce' tag (which is quite query heavy) and these add about 45 queries. Which, in reality, is nothing to be concerned about. I don't think I could even manage to get 280 if I tried!

So - rather than write scary, dramatic posts with bold capitals - why don't you explain to me what exactly you are running on non-forum views to get this extraordinary number of queries?

I'm sorry but I have been doing further tests and finally went to your site to take a look. Your forum has what, 1 topic? and you are claiming it loads 670 queries? This busy forum with 16 forums, 1985 topics and 13508 posts on a busy page manages it in about 170 and of those the vast majority are small and virtually all handled in memory.

I also looked at your source but to be honest could not really follow the query count. The front page reported 2020.823 queries. I have no idea what that means.

Hi, Sorry about being too dramastic.

No, I don't do any template tag with Simple:Press. Everything is plain and simple.

I did a test and analyse it locally.

On post, When every plugin in I need is on:

Simple:Press off: 1470.919 queries. 0.919 seconds.

Simple:Press on: 1751.645 queries. 1.645 seconds.

You can see, when Simple:Press is on, few hundred queries added to the load without using any template tags related to it.

On forum page

Simple:Press off: 1421.433 queries. 1.433 seconds.

Simple:Press on:

- admin logged in: 2275.813 queries. 5.813 seconds.

- not logged in: 2051.799 queries. 1.799 seconds.

You can see, it's over 600 queries has been added to the load, when it's not logged in.

And it's actually over 800 querires added to the load, when it's logged in.

I'm really sorry if this make you feel uneasy, I'm just too honest and hope to see some improvement.

Hint: To display the queries count you can use the following code:

<?php echo '<!– '. get_num_queries() , ' queries. '. timer_stop(1). ' seconds. –>'; ?>

Oops, your filter automatically merge the double minuses into single dash.

I do not feel in the slightest 'uneasy'. You appear to have some serious problems. And I cannot replictate them on a forum that is several thousand posts bigger than yours. Why would I feel uneasy? I am by nature a happy guy.

I still do not know, however, what a figure like '2275.813' equates to. When I count queries I get an integer.

Seem like i'm good at clicking the “Add Topic” button so here is the link to the mistaken thread: http://www.stuff.yellowswordfish.com/support-forum/next-version-simplepress-forum-v40/theme-related-issue/page-1/

Perhaps it's a good idea to only put “new topic” button at the threads page, or after the “Reply” button.

Cool, after I do code analysis. I compared the code in Default theme VS in my thema and found out there was a bug.

The 5.813 actually is the timer count to as 5.813 seconds. That leave only 227 queries. The the problem is not actually a problem at all. Mistery is solved.

Thanks again for the support and my appologies for the wasted time.
