Hiya,

Is there a way for me to limit the number of words displayed in the category list? For posts, I'm using  <?php the_content_rss('', TRUE, '', 37); ?>, but I've been trying to figure out how you are determining the length of the summary in the pcp files.

Best and thanks!

PCP Does nothing with the content. I am not sure really what you are getting at…

Thanks for responding. Using the code excerpt above, I am limiting the number of words displayed by wordpress to 37 words (in the list like the home page, or when you click on a category). So, when I create a post, it gets displayed on the home page, and visitors get a 37 word summary and need to click on the title to read more. Does that make sense?

However, the pages displayed by PCP show the entire page, and not the excerpt. I would like to find the code snippet where the_content is being called, or wherever PCP points wordpress to and says “display the content.” I'm guessing that I could limit the number of words there.

It's possible that wordpress can only show entire pages, and that I would need to find out how to get the_content_rss to work for a page. Another way to say this is that I'd like to use the “post display rules” for pages as well.

Did I make this more clear and can you guide me further?

BTW, thanks for this plugin. If I can get this to work, then I will have pasted together something really neat and useful for my site!

Best,
Dainis

Yes - I have got you.

PCP has no bearing on this at all I'm afraid. You are going to need to investigate what can be done with page content elsewhere. I have never looked into it but I rather think WP does not support excerpts on 'pages' but there may well be a plugn out there that will cater for it. I know not of one however.

Hmm, then I would need to be able to hide certain categories for view by subscribers only.

So, basically, you are listing page after page, however it is that WP displays pages…in a category. I wonder where that code would be and whether I could replace it with the “post display” code.

I was doing this to piece together a “subscriber only” situation, and making “pages” subscriber only is pretty easy. I don't know how to do it for posts.

Thanks for your help.
