I would like to see the ability to add custom member data in new fields for profiles. (i.e. age, gender, favorite color, marital status, multiple photos, etc.)

Along with this I would like to be able to search member profiles with these custom fields available…. not just as ADMIN or Moderator, but also as a member, perhaps with less information published.

Someone else also mentioned private messaging, A big YES vote from me on this idea.

Lastly I’d like to see an ability to vote on forum posts as well as reply, votes essentially being separate, pre-formatted replies in the database.

Taken together, these four options could be the start of a whole new type of social site plugin, not just a forums, but a posible date site, or even a social bookmarking site, with posts containing URLS and/or reviews being voted.

Even if not implemented with the forums, some of these options are disparately needed in the wordpress community and would warrant their own plugin… especially in the field of user moderation, management, search, deletion, and private messaging.

Think BIG or go home

I did take a look at the plugin mentioned, and although it may work for some, I do not like the idea of users being in the admin section or backend of the site.

The way Andy has integrated the functions of his plugin right out in the open pleases me to no end.

Simple Forums has moved the login/registration/profiles right out front in the main section - front end - of the site and that is where I like my users to stay.

There are options to ‘SKIN’ the backend of the site to keep it inline with my theme, but I find those to be MOST complicated when dealing with multi layered themes and multiple sites and installations. 

As I said before, each of the options proposed would work wonders on their own as separate plugins.

Perhaps that is how they should be approached?

It’s S’Posed to…

The First Fetish Radio Station on the Internet.

I first started using SF as the founder and webmaster of that adult site, which is why I have registered for these forums under this Nick Name.

I have since begun using it in my normal vanilla non-adult, web hosting and design, Computer Repair Business site, to the point that it has replaced my previous support-forums, which were hosted apart from my website. (Never really liked phpBB anyway).

As a result, I see a LOT of issues and different implementations of plugins being tried for different sites.

SF has the Distinct Advantage of being skinable in it’s own right but also in being able to follow the WP themes, so each instalation is unique to that site.

SF is also scalable, with over 1000 users on the Bondage Radio site, the plugin opperates just as well as my support forums, with just under 20 users.

I have installed the plugin for clients and they have been very enthusiastic about SF’s ability to fill their needs without taking away from their sites overall design.

The features i have requested, in this and other threads, stem from an existing need which is present in one or more of the sites I opperate.

I have more Ideas, which I might want to send to you in private, regarding live chat and instant messaging.  

Something I would like to see for larger sites is a variation of Radio’s voting idea…  On the larger sites, its sometimes harder for moderators to see every post in a timely fashion…  It would be nice if there was an icon/link for users to click on to alert admins/mods about a post that might be inappropriate or out of line (might not apply to Radio’s site )…

I think we have the notify admin/moderator upgrade on the list for the next version…
