We have today released a security update to version 3.1.3 - tagged 3.1.4 - that should be considered a required and important upgrade to all users of version 3.1.3. Users on earlier versions of the 3.0 family should seriously consider upgrading to 3.1.3 so they can apply this security patch.
To expedite getting this fix out to users we have, firstly, supplied just the four changed files. We will create a proper 3.1.4 full build in due course if necessary. You can find the files on the plugin download page as usual.

I notice that your update instructions include the following:
Please copy the four files to their respective folders:
sf-forumcomponents.php :
/simple-forum/forum/sf-topiccomponents.php
The forum directory contains the sf-forumcomponents.php file and the sf-topiccompoents.php file. I was wondering if the directions are correct.
I'm getting lots of forum spam. My forums are opened to quest posts but all posts are moderated. Specifically Guests have 'Full Access'. The 'Full Access' permission set has the two permissions related to post moderation set to restrict unmoderated access. Somehow people are still posting messages that do not require moderation. Would this security fix be related to my problems?

yes, it was noted in anothe thread… we just need to get the instructions fixed…
the sub directory is “forum” and the second file is sf-forumcomponents.php

Where are the files….? I cannot find them in the downloads section….

Simple Press has been wonderful for me, thanks for the immense effort!
I have few suggestions towards 4.0
- Send a direct delete link with each new post (I do get spam now and then)
- Try to optimize the js libraries and mysql queries - opening few posts at the same time nearly kills my browser and/or DB

I doubt it has anything to do wIth your browser OR your DB. The major component to performance is your host which basically (but not always) comes doown to price.
