after searching for wpmu and seing the links to the FAQ, I am currently disappointed by the FAQs… all thats stated there is: yes it workd with wpmu and its moderately hard to get it to work…

now I remember in earlier versions, I only had to change 2 lines inside sf-includes.php :

define('SFUSERS', 'wp_users');^
define('SFUSERMETA', 'wp_usermeta');^

but after upgrading to 3.1.2 it seems these two changes are no longer enough. Basically I got heavy permalink problems: I can hit the forum page, but as soon as I click on a subforum, I get a 404 error, check it out here:

any suggestions and hints are mroe than welcome.

gonna have to wait for Radio to stop by and help out as he is the only one here that plays with wpmu, but I dont think those changes are required any more…  quite a few folks are using this with wpmu…

I have been one of the first to play around with this plugin and wpmu and the changes I noted, are needed as wpmu saves all user data in these two tables, globally for all blogs users…

Still had some permalink trouble with only this blogs foru mI linked above, on my main site after the upgrade the forum runs fine…

The edits are no longer nessary in version SPF 3.0.x and up, WPMU databases are addressed correctly.

If you have edited your SPF 3.0.x instalation as per the SF 2.1 instructions, please re-upload a fresh SPF copy, as the edit may be causeing any errors you may be encountering.

the error you are reporting is not a wpmu issue, but one that will effect all installs:

When clicking on internal forum pages you get a 404 error: This is almost always a problem with permalinks being mismatched in the forum and in WP-WPMU.

Using the Forum Tab in your dashboard, goto Manage Options.

You can set the forum page and slug under the first tab: make sure that there is no trailing space or slashes after the forum slug

If you run the forum in a sub page, also make sure that the parent page slug IS listed with a froward slah and then the sub-page slug (I.E. [parent-page/sub-page] )

Now we move to the last tab in the Manage Options section, “TOOLS”

The forum page slug is sometimes auto identified here, but it does need to be reset.

Click “update permalink” …you may or may not notice the permalink changing… then click SAVE OPTIONS. Saving options is required after this step.

You should now be able to click the “GOTO FORUMS” button and navigate your forums without error…

IF you continue to get the 404 error on internal pages of the forum then we have to begin looking at plugin and theme conflicts.

Please Also Note: that WPMU version 1.5.1 is NOT recomended as the software is not yet stable, and as such we can not make or recomend any corrections to SPF Core Code for troubleshooting.

Only WPMU 1.3.3 or below is currently recomended or supported.
