ok, you can test it here: http://zice.ro/forum/ and the black skin here: http://sasha.zice.ro/forum/

you can test post in the first one if you want.

the second one, black skin has some issues with the template, I might have to look those up, the forum looks a bit displaced to the right, like there was a padding somewhere…

btw. what are the plans about user accouns/ registering? there is only a login link, what about adding a register link to the blogs signup page?

I donlt know what you mean by the 'blogs signup page'. The forum already HAS a register link - as long as registrations are allowed in WP…

The black skin is still being tweaked.

so now I tried it, works wonderful, the user isntantly gets an email with his password :-) and is automatically added as a subscriber to the current blog he used to sign on - talking about wpmu here. => which allows him to comment and post on any blog I have on my wpmu isntall udner his registered name :-) wonderful comunity feature

another thing I noticed is that I get notified twice by email about new posts, then realized I have the option of: Notify Admin on new Topic/Post ticked and I am subscribed to new topics - so can we avoid to get 2 email?

If you are the admin then you don't need to subscribe in the profile form. Uncheck that and you will get just the one each time.

an obvious solution Embarassed

still some suggestions:

I'll just list them here, maybe some are already incorporated, maybe some never will be…

I'd like to be able to designate a moderator for each forum group, not for the whole forum, have an additional check box: email moderator on new post and having the option to subscribe only to certain posts not to all I have posted.

These just popped into my mind :-)

All nice ideas. I will add them to the ever growing list. Won't make the final 1.5 I'm afraid. As much as anything, I need a break!

I was wondering how you are doing this anyway,… I read all these suggestions to sf Innocent and usually all you're saying is "I'll add it later" you rarely say "No" and in the next release its all done :-)

I guess everyone is just telling you what he likes in forums, so if you'll keep incorporating all these features we'll end up with the perfect forum software

btw. can you explain a bit how you're going to support skins? Just by including them so the users can select them? no direct user editing? If this is how its going to be, you could give out some basic directives and people could start making their own skins - if you're still open for sugestions try RSDiscuss - or let me email you a screenshot of how its done there - I love their solution.

I'm a retired ageing hippy who still gets a buzz out of writing code! While I enjoy it, I'll do it. Anyway - it's winter so I'm in hibernation mode Frown

The first thing to say though is that this really was meant to be 'simple'. I couldn't get the other options working to my satisfaction; although I liked wp-forum a lot, the release I tried just didn't work for me. So I decided to just do my own thing and it's rewarding if others like it and use it also. It's not that 'simple' any more though; as you've noticed, I tend to just keep adding to it and sooner or later it will have to be revamped and optimised although we are not at that stage yet.

I know how rs-discuss does it's colours and stuff and yes, it's very good. I just didn't want to get that complicated with the front-end. One of the things I want to do with 1.5 before a final release (and it will probably get re-numbered 1.6 as so many people have the beta), is to put a little more documentation in place - especially around the skins. But the best way is to duplicate the default into a new folder and start editing the CSS - which I have documented to a certain degree to help. My intention was to notify any CSS changes in default with each release. Same with the icons.

I also added the ability to remove the textual content beside icons. Forums like phpBB or Invision, for example, use graphic buttons instead of text/icon link. So this allows for thatsort of customisation. ;d quite like to be doing this myself but the code takes priority for now.

And most importantly, before the next release, I am beefing up the security to aid keeping the spammer vampires out as much as possible.
