hello andy,

 first errors I encountered:

- whether I check or uncheck "Sort Topics by Most recent Postings:" and click on "update forum Options" it always says: "Options Updated!" but the ckeckbox stays unchecked..

I did another test: I have my saved options left over from 1.5 so I went and unchecked another options, clicked save and it stayed unchecked btu when I checked it again and saved it still remained unchecked…

Shall I try and use the uninstall option? I was not sure if posts/topics/forums will also be deleted or just the settigns…

No - don't use the uninstall. When it says it removes everything it really does mean everything!

The only comments I have had about this problem came from Dizzy99 who was also using MU. (He is no longer using it apparently). I suspect there is something about the MU options table I don't know about. He claimed, however, that a change in the options did not show as changed… but if he left the admin panel and then came back the change was reflected. Can you perhaps check on that for me?

Meanwhile I'll see if I can find anything out about any differences with options in MU although I'm not sure where to start! Is there a special codex for MU do you know?

indeed, if I leave the admin menu and come back the settings are displayed as they should..

There is no special codex for wpmu, its based on the bleeding edge code, right now its based on wp2.1 but also has some pieces of wp2.2 already built in.

If you want me to look up stuff for you just ask, right now I don't know what to check :-(

All I've found so far is that the normal 'option' table functions work at blog level but that there are also global functions so that options can be set for ALL blogs on the system.

I rather suspect the behaviour you are seeing is a different form of cacheing on MU than I am used to on single-user WP so that it the option is getting set correctly but not showing up until the cache is refreshed.

Is there any chance you could help me out and ask this question on the MU forum? On my Mac and using Firefox both the standard and MU forums display as a bit of a mess and I had trouble getting the RSS to work. As you are a regular there (so I hear!) if you could ask I'd be grateful. There might be a special call to regresh the options cache for example…
