I activated the plugin in wordpress v2.5, but don't know how to access the 'admin' page to finish the install. What exactly is the admin page?
I have tried some versions of the following:
http://www.example.com/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/admin
Where am I to go to finish this install and get things going? I have the latest version of simple forums.
I know this is a simple question, I searched and searched google and this forum for the answer, but I fear it may be too basic. Sorry for the repost if it is one.

I think I got the right address…but I am getting an error page:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: trailingslashit() in /ex./ex./ex./ex./example/domains/example.com/html/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/admin/sf-admin.php on line 6
I changed some of the webpages for my protection. 'ex.' or 'example' would be my server info and webpage. Hope this helps. Again, I searched as a registered user and found nothing matching this phrase.

Wait, I found the wordpress tab on the top…it said forum on it. On
the DASHBOARD. This should be clearer in the install guide (imo), but
now I am getting a wordpress database error:
WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that
corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use
near '' at line 1] UPDATE wp_users SET display_name='' WHERE ID=
What is this? More searching…

Well let's just cover the 'Dashboard' first. The WP 'Dashboard' is the option that tells you how many posts you've made, how many cmments and displays an RSS feed from selected WP sites etc. It is ONE page/option within what is collectively known as WP Admin. it would be incorrect to say to people 'go to the Dashboard'. Simple:Press Forum behaves like most plugins - creates a menu (or submenu) in the WordPress 'Admin'.
As to your specific problems you have somethign screwy going on there. The 'Call to undefined function: trailingslashit()' is a bit of a worry as this is a core function (I.e., not a Simple:Press Forum function). So let's start by location.
There is a contradiction on the two paths you have given me above. When you unzip the forum plugin you should place the folder called 'simple-forum' directly into your 'plugins' folder. Is this where it resides and did you copy ALL files across to your server?

I see, that is a clear explanation I have never had before. I installed it from the 'dashboard', or at least clicked on the tab from wordpress admin page and ran the install there. In my first post I was merely going to the URL http://www.example.com/etc. to try and do the install. It was giving me the error. So I just went into the admin page of wordpress and found th install button there. Oh well, it is working now.

Thanks for the great plugin!

Can I ask why you are installing V2.1 on a wordpress 2.5 site?

It's 2.1? But 2.1 didn't have an 'install' button did it? Didn't I introduce that with 3.0?
