Activate plugin hangs

I am trying to install Simple Forum, but only get as far as trying to activate it in Wordpress.  The plugin shows up in the list, but when I click activate, it just seems to hang there forever.  I’ve let it go for several minutes, but the activation never completes.  If I stop it by navigating away from the page, I do see the manage forum options, but it’s like it only got partially installed… There are no default pages created, etc.

I have no other active plugins and have tried deactivating/reactivating Simple Forum.

Suggestions?  Thanks.

Well it’s possible something went askew in the initial install and I do know there are some problems associated with using older versions of MySQL (which could well be the problem).

If you can access the admin options, try clicking the ‘Uninstall’ tab, checking the unintsall check box and then deactivating. Then try and reactivate it and see if that helps. And if you know what version of mySQL your host is running that might help to diagnose the problem.

My host is running MySQL 5.0.41.

I tried the uninstall, deactiveate, reactivate sequence, but it still does the same thing.

Let me know if you need any other information.

Well lets start at the beginning. Were the tables created? And if the Page was not created is this the only item that failed to work? if so then you can just create a new page and set the page ID and page slug in the admin options (admin tab)

Thank you!  Setting the page ID and slug seem to have fixed things.  I’ll have to play around to make sure everything is working.
