first of all, i love your work! its great keep it up :)

I am having problems with uploading avatars, when I’ve located the avatar and click update profile it leads me to the error message:

"AVATAR UPLOAD ERROR: Target folder cannot be reached - Profile Record: Profile Updated."

I’ve tried to fix this but i cant seem to find the problem :( The permissions of the "avatars" folder is 777 but still not working. I can’t seem to find anyone else who has had this problem, is there something that I have missed during installation of simple forum?

I would be very greatful for any suggestions, thanks!

Oh dear - these can be very hard to track down. It literally means that ‘php is ubable to open that folder for writing’. So… first thing… is it in  the right place?

The routine is going to look here for it:

/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/avatars/

I assume that is correct and where the folder has been created?

Next I would check the permissions along the whole path - not just in the /avatars folder. See if anything else is blocking it. Any change?

I had some problems like this back in 1.4/1.5 but thought they were all resolved. Maybe just because we now have Gravatar support not so many people upload their own any more. But it has been months since any problem  was reported.

The only other thing that I can think of - reading back through older topics - is the filename you are using. You should NOT get this error message if the filename is odd but I may as well ask. So - is your avatar file name non-standard at all?

Other than that I really don’t have any ideas I’m afraid. As I say - this is the first reported problem on avatars since about 1.5.

have you tried uploading the same avatar to my site here?

Can anyone else shed any light on what might be the problem?

Which discounts many reasons of course and does point at a local issue of some sort. Sorry I can think of nothing else though…

Make sure you have the avatars in forum-avatars under wp-content. I was using an older upload and it put the avatars in avatars under the plugin directory. It is in the IMPORTANT .rtf file in the upload.
