I am sorry about what I am sure is a very stupid question….but I am a total noob when it comes to wordpress.

I have created a simple forum on my site and everything looks fine, except when you click on any of the topics it takes you to a blank page….I looked at the solution offered in the FAQ and that didnt seem to be my issue.  can someone offer advice?

the site is http://bostonpublictransit.com/?page_id=21

No - not stupid. It's not working after all!

First question - other plugins. Do you have any installed that change your permalinks. There is one called something like 'Pernmalink Redirect' with which the forum will not work. Let's get that question out of the way first!

Thanks for the reply

I have Akismet, Ba stats, gostats, hello dolly, database backup, and of course simple forum installed.  Only gostats and simple froum are active.

Well - I'm not sure but it certainly doesn't like the permalink structure I am using for the url.

I used "index.php?pagename=" because that has always seemed to work anywhere but your site doesnlt like it and insists on '?page_id=21' which is why I asked about a permalink plugin.

If you are up to editing one line in the forum code you canb get it to work and meanwhile I can look int your problem with a view to supporting it.

other than that, I'll still do the research but I dodn't think you'll be able to use it. let me know…

Reading up I still think this comes down to permalinks. Can you tell me what your permalinks are set to in the Options panel? I can test things here then…
