Title pretty much says it all, i just set this up on my wordpress
forum. There where no instructions so i asumed it was just upload the
folder to my plugins directory, and enable the plugin in the admin
panel.

The link on the front page shows (And links to /sf-forum/) which is a 404.

I went into the admin panel of the plugin, and tried changing the
slug to forum. Clicked save changes and update forum permalink. The
link on my front page did not change.

I tried manually navigating to /forum and /simple-forum and /support-forum but no luck.

I’m out of ideas, suggestions?

I’m running WP2.3.2 btw

P.S: Just wanted to say that even though i havn’t had the chance to
try some of your plugins yet, they look really awsome! really nice
work. I’ll definatly be trying download counter and probably surfing
through to see if theres anything else i like.

If a moderator happens to be around, could you please remove my post from the next version forum? I accidently posted this there :x

Glad you got it working… there is an extensive readme file included in the download… when you unpack the downloaded zip file, the readme ends up at the same level as the simple-forum directory…

Not from V2 onwards… the download size was getting too big. But there IS a readme in the download that does state that the documentation is available on the plugin page.

It’s because nobody reads it that I am abandoning the doc file. Actually - most people don’t sem to even look for it. And it took so long to write!

Haha, i did look for the docs when i first got it. I read readme.html twice to make sure it didn’t have installation instructions, I usually look for a readme.* I do admit i failed dismally at reading the page…i saw it just after Mr Papa’s post and was like…Doh

I do admit that if i had an issue, and i knew where the help file was. I’d probably try and find it there first, though.

 Hope this helps :D

P.S I’m sorta designing my own theme, i’m really bad at css and i’m just trying to hack together some of the other themes to get what i want, i dunno if you would want me to submit the theme but when i’m done i can give you it if you like :)

Sorry - I was letting off steam a little inappropriately. It was the second case in one day. One of my other plugins includes a PDF file with all the instructions and lots of help in it and I had someone state that there were no instructions. I don’t know how you go about doing this. I sometimes feel you need to put the link to docs in 36pt bold type or something.

I always used (and with SF right up untll the last release) to try and supply good, extensive docs but running this support forum has proven that the vast majority (a) do not read them and (b) don’t search the forum to see if it is a common question. And in the case of SF (c) often don’t tab though all the options to see what can and cannot be done. This is a little frustrating at times and the reason why I won’t be updating the guide for V3.

So - apologies again.

And yes - new skins are always welcome but I have to say (and will probably over this weekend if I have the time) that V3 introduces a lot of changes which will require CSS changes.

Haha, i know how you feel. I run my own small game server, and in the menu it has a "help" button, nobody EVER reads it, Everyone just asks me, and when i tell them to read the help they either

 a) insult me

 b) don’t bother to read it and leave me alone (rare)

 c) Ask me the same question continually (common)

Even when i do actually answer the questions for them, i usually expect to answer the same question in exactly the same way atleast twice, it’s like  they need a checksum of the answer or something, LOL

Anyways yea i do know how you feel, but keep up the good work. It’s what people like us do :)
