More feature requests & a nasty looking error

First of all, this looks like a great forum plugin in development. I’ve been looking for a possible alternative for another wp forum plugin (which is not really developing fast) for a while.

Since you seem to be Ok with the feature proposals flowing in for Simple Forum, I’d like to throw two of them myself.

1) Localisation support would be great, like someone mentioned earlier. I can provide Finnish translation.

2) A list of recent posts in the WP sidebar would be cool. I have a hacked example with current forum plugin currently in use. You can take a look at http://jousimetsastys.fi/wp/ under the title “SJML Forum” in the sidebar. Essentially, there is only message title and modification date (format I use is “d.m.”, but it probably could/should be configurable…).

I’m not sure if these features are supported:
- is user able to edit his own message?
- can admin move a message under a different forum?

BTW: I installed the Simple Forum ver 1.3 (to WP 2.0.7), configured some test forums, posted and article as admin and a reply as another user. Got an error message like:

WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ' 69, '', '', 0)' at line 1]
INSERT INTO wp_sfposts (post_content, post_date, topic_id, forum_id, user_id, guest_name, guest_email, post_status) VALUES (’Foo and bar. -Another user’, ‘2007-01-23 20:59:35′, 1, , 69, ”, ”, 0);

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/jousimet/public_html/wp/wp-includes/wp-db.php:104) in /home/jousimet/public_html/wp/wp-includes/pluggable-functions.php on line 270

This seems to happen only if I reply to a message opened from Most Recent Posts pane. If I open same message from Forums & reply to it, all works ok. Known bug?

Well I can test that one out here as I have opened this from ‘Most Recent Posts’ so i shall see what happened when I save it!
The user being able to edit own messages is virtually top of the list!
Can you give me an example of why a post would need to be moved to a different forum? I could understand a whole topic… but why a post?
Localisation is also on the list - but I only have so much time :)
A tag to display recent posts on the sidebar is an easy one- especially as all the necessary routines are already in place. I’ll add that to the list!
Now… let me click on the save button….

You’re right, moving topic works well. I was thinking about the first message in a wrong place - but it soon becomes as real topic… :)

Hang on. There is no way to move a topic! I was just asking if that would be more useful!
By the way it saved without a problem. This is a bit of a worry when I can’t replicate a problem (like the uploading of Avatars which works for me!). The SQL error you got had the forum ID missing and I’m not sure how that could have happened….

Hmmm. Testing is sometimes tricky. Did you try replying as someone else than admin?

You could probably try it yourself in my test installation? Link to it is http://jousimetsastys.fi/wp/sf-forum

Ok I get it. You reply not as admin but a guest or member and select the topic from the ‘recent posts’ list. I’ll try that out on my test system

Yes - found it - stupid one as usual!
If you are interested I have posted the fix in a new forum called ‘Bug Fix Information’

Thanks for finding it and letting me know.
