Support Forum : RSS from simple forum is not working

I turned on the RSS function of simple forum, however it didnt work. it links to a non existent directory (feed) or (comments/feed). what is set up wrong? I am currently not using RSS on my main wordpress site.

When you say “turned on”, I assume you mean, checked the “Allow RSS Feeds” option in the Manage Forum, Global options tab?


Could you please provide a link to your site so we can see it?

hmm… default permalink structure - wonder if thats an issue…


also, you have no topics/posts…  just wondering if you could try a test post and see if its still an issue then?

Agreed. It needs some posts before we can check the feeds… Default structure should not really be a problem. if when there are posts there is a genuine problem it's also worth taking a look at what other plugins are installed.

Actually there will be an issue with RSS because of the hosting company's forced advertisements (godaddy)…


RSS requires a specific format and the forced adds on every page output from the host are non-RSS-XML compliant.


Checking the Wordpress RSS feed with posts will show that the feed will not validate, the failed validation is because the forced adds are also forced into the feeds.


This is not uncommon. My own free hosting company also has this issue if forced adds are maintained on my clients sites. I have no way of knowing what documents are being fed from the site so if errors arise, I first turn off forced adds for that account.


FYI - for the test account provided for v3.0 testing and MU testing, forced adds were turned off from the beginning.
