tiny little problem and I’m stumped!

Ok, first I would like to say that I love this script! It’s great to have the forum within the wordpress and linked, it’s a real timesaver!!

I have installed the script on three blogs. Two of them are perfect, the other one doesn’t show any images at all. I am not even sure this is Simple Forum issue but I wasn’t sure who to ask. Here is what I have done to narrow down the possible problems:

1. Installed all three at the same time from the same download and using the same FTP and settings.

2. Changed the wordpress themes to match the other blogs.

3. Deactivated all the plugins after first only deactivating the ones different from the first two blogs.

4. Deleted all wordpress files and installed through fantastico as one of the other two were ofiginally installed.

I have been looking in here hoping someone else had this problem. I did see one topic that was similar and I have tried that solution but it didn’t work.

Can anyone here help me with this?

Here are the two blogs to compare: http://topzinearticles.com/blog/sf-forum/

The one that is not looking right is - http://athomeworkideas.com/sf-forum/

I appreciate any advice anyone can give me…..

The images on the athomeworkideas dont seem valid… I cannot load any that I have tried…

for example, the group image is pointing to

http://athomeworkideas.com/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/icons/phpbb-traditional-en/group.png

but that link is invalid or corrupt… the images all seem to be there (show up in directory, which btw you should disable indexing)… they are just corrupted and wont display…

If you look in directory:

http://athomeworkideas.com/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/icons/phpbb-traditional-en

you will see they all exist (again, turn off indexing so folks cant scan your directories like I did), but all are corrupted…

Try reuploading those images and check the permissions…

It worked!!  Thank you very much!!

I re-uploaded in binary mode and they work fine now..  I guess I was thinking the problem was bigger than it was because I didn’t even check that.

Can you please tell me where I turn off the indexing you talked about?  I don’t like leaving my data open like that and I didn’t even know it was.

many ways to do this…  two easiest ways…

- via your host…  they can do it for you or through your cpanel (or other panels) there is usually and indexes icon you can click on to turn off starting at your document root.

- in your .htaccess file, add:

Options -indexes

Thank you very much Mr. Papa!!

I was able to re-upload all the images to my site and fixed other problems I was having and some I didn’t even know I was having…

I also changed the indexing on two of the three sites, the third one doesn’t have the same options in the control panel.  But I will figure it out..

Just wanted to say thanks!!

np…  glad it worked out…  if you cant do it via your host admin panel, the .htaccess works just as well…
