I was just able to check on your site and forum a moment ago.


I believe that you have corrected the issues you asked about in e-mail.


Tags links are now working (no 404 errors) (ie http://www.petmonologues.com/pet022207/tag/9-11 )


About page and Contact page are now listed in Pages along with Simple Forum

These issues still do not appear to have been caused by Simple Forum at all, but could easily have been caused by any combination of other plugins that I am aware of. (mostly SEO plugins with a setting or two miss placed)


I still have two recomendations.

  1. upgrade to the latest wordpress
  2. regularly backup your database

I went on the WP forum over 24 hrs ago = silence. I added the following new info on the forum…


As the “pages” appear to be gone I wrote two new pages and see them in the wp-post table. So it seems strange that the posts are still there but not the “pages” so maybe the pages are still in the database.

That said, since the tags are generated by the Simple Tagging plug I went into admin area of the plugin. I found files that were not tagged and it listed about 10 “pages” that I thought were dropped! This is good news.

I am going to contact the developer of Simple Tagging hoping they support the plug and may have insight what is going on with the tags.

Things are so bad with Google now that I am no longer getting ads relating to my posts but am getting the default ads.

i don't know what just happened. i did not do
anything today but rename an errant tag. the correct tag is
“environment” and there was a tag = enviroment. i deleted the
misspelled tag. that's the only change i made, the rest of my time was
going through the tag options in the admin section.


as i was writing the support forum for Simple Tagging (which is now
obsolete being replaced by Simple Tag for WP v2.3) to see if the plug
was supported i added a brand new tag “test” to see if a brand new tag
would work after the SF upgrade. well it does. not only that. it
appears all tags are working now, both in the post and the tag cloud.


now waiting to see if google sees me again.


i won't mark this resolved just yet. but i have a good feeling.

radio,


i just noticed your post on this forum you made earlier today. sorry i did not see it sooner.


i will let things “settle” a bit before i start thinking about upgrading. let me ask you this. why so pro v2.3? i have many plugs right now and i know i will be losing some bells/whistles, right? early adoption with software has soured me many times over. are there big features on SF v2.1 or upcoming v3 that will be enabled in WP v2.3?


btw - i was going to ask this question 2-3 months ago…is there a “pretty link” capability with SF?

version 3.0 of this forum software to be released around months end, does include the pretty url feature…  the new version does not (I dont beileve) include any functionality that is limited to wp 2.3 or greater…


he is pro 2.3 because it fixes security issues and runs better…  most plugins now work with 2.3…  I would say I gained improvements with this release…
