Hi, I am trying to make WP use the SF login/register page for new/registered users, but have a question regarding redirection after a user logs in.


For instance, I have “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” ticked in the WP > General > Options, and have the usual “You must be logged in to post a comment” at the end of ever post.


I have changed the “must be logged in” url to that it goes to the SF login page - but when I login I am redirected to the main Forum page - which (I believe) is as expected.


What I am trying to figure out is, can I make the SF login page redirect me back to the WP post that I cam from so that I can post a comment? But I would still like the SF login page to take me to the Forum if I am trying to login from the Forum.


Ideally I guess I would like to somehow make the SF login page redirect me back to the page that sent me to the login page.


Phew, I hope this makes sense? and hope there is a way to do this.

I don't think you'll be able to do that in 2.1 because I believe the return URL is always directed at the forum front page.

However, in V3 you should be able to do that but you need to send the redirection url in a POST variable and that, I am afraid, going to be the only way.

Thanks Andy, ok I will have a think about it.


Do you have a time-line for V3? I see that there is a beta version - is there a way I can use (test) it? I am more than happy to submit bug reports if required.

We are hoping to have a RC version out this weekend and then barring unforeseen events, go final with V3 by the end of next week…

I think not. By keeping it to a small group of signed-up users who have also had the beta then I know who they are and can contact them if there are any issues.

I saw this on 2.1 where the beta was feely available but there was a vulnerability in earlier builds. When the final, kosher and safe release went out, a lot of those users didn't upgrade but continued to use the un-safe beta - and I had no way of knowing who they were.

As the beta rolls int RC then we are really only a very short time away from public release. All being well the end of next week.
