Abort upgrade - OK?

After upgrading, then activating the 3.1.3 plugin and finally clicking Upgrade, I get an error telling that the MySQL software on the server is not supported by SPF 313.

I this screen, I have NOT clicked Upgrade.

Can I then safely downgrade to my previous version (3.0.3)? In other words: I suppose that the database is still untouched, still having the structure for the previous version?

(Sorry, had this trouble before, and forgot that the server software was crucial - and then forgot to double-check if my host had upgraded the software as they promised.)

Thanks,

Kjetil

To be fair it didnlt say that things would not work - only that it can give problems. For most it is OK, and the chances are that if you are already running an earlier version then it will be fine. Just sometimes it wont create the tables.

There will come a time though when we may have to drop support for it and hosts really should be upgrading - it's what you are paying for after all!

Thanks for your quick response.

If I still can't reach them during the day (which is rare) I'll give it a chance and click “Upgrade!”

If it then looks crazy, too bad… :o)

One detail: Even when its down, the visitors see a message that makes sense. Nice.

Or… make a backup of your database and then go for it. 99% of the time it seems to work. We have never understood the other 1% but it only happens on pre 4.2x MySQL systems it seems.

Your were quite right. The texts appears slightly bigger, that's all.

Believe I've tested most of it - it seems my fear had no reason…

Cool (see the relieved expression?)
