Hi everyone.

I was wondering if anyone had done any benchmarking for speed etc with this forum.

For me this site seems a little slow to flick over and complete the loading of pages.

I currently run Joomla with SMF with my own page integration and user sync but no dual login at the moment as I never bothered writing the authentication.

The more I think about things my site is essentially a news blog with a forum and as such i want to get my site onto a blogging platform like wordpress as I no longer need the bells and whistles. I am as such evaluating the various forums software that is available and at the moment and am thinking of this as I want a fully integrated not just bridges application.

My site has approx stats of 156577 Posts in 11967 Topics by 1025 Members

I am thinking about writing a simple converter as it won't be too hard to get users from SMF to wp with the same user id's and then the forum structure is again a fairly simple SQL task to perform.

Before I bother doing all this however I was wondering whether anyone had as of yet done any benchmarking of forums with a fairly large amount of data on the them.

At the moment SMF is pretty damn fast on my site, but it is the lack of integration and overly powerful Joomla that is concerning me when i can be on a more lightweight system, however I need to see the speed advantages as well.

So in summary:

1 - Has anyone done any benchmark testing?

2 - Does anyone have a large forum with a lot of users and posts?

3 - is the integration complete or is it another synch and bridge system (i.e. does it wrap into your wp theme etc)

I know of half dozen sites running with well over 5000 users and a much larger number of topics/posts…  they have not reported any issues, but that does not gurantee anything…  as Andy mentions, perhaps they will stop by and offer their perspective… you might check the show your stuff forum too for some sites running the plugin and see what performance they have though I dont know their size…
