I have an English Version of Wordpress (2.2) running and would like to switch the language of the forum to German.

I guess I am just too stupid to find the tick-box in the admin panel… but how can I change the language?

You change the language code in your WordPress config.php file to your code of choice. In this case 'de_DE'. If you open up config.php in edit mode you will see where it goes.

I have the German version of WP running (2.5), so far, so fine.

I have downloaded the sforum-de_DE.mo file for SPF too, but the forum language is still English. How can I change the forum language to German?

P.S.:

define ('WPLANG', 'de_DE');

is set in my WP-config.php

Have you placed the German MO file in the '/simple-forum/languages' folder? That should be all you need to do…

Yes, I have the “sforum-de_DE.mo” file in the /simple-forum/languages folder. Unfortunately it doesn't work - strange.

I might add that I have two installations of SPF running in one database, each for an own domain. The first SPF installation runs in English, the second should run in German (but doesn't). Is it possible that the two installations interfere somehow? I didn't have any problems in that direction, but still I thought I mention it …

The two installations have different prefixes in the database of course.

The database should have no effect on localisation. To be honest I do not see why it should not work. If there were a problem with the German MO file we would have heard before this.

Weird :-(

Well, at some other place here in the forums I read that a user had similar problems and after he updated to a new version of SPF it suddenly worked. I am hoping for the same now and can't await the next update *LOL*
