Hi guys,

I just setup a WP 2.6 blog on my server with a spare domain to test all my plugins etc, before upgrading my main site from 2.51 to 2.6.

Yours was the very first plugin I attempted to activate, I received this error, and was unable to proceed after this, in fact I had to rename the simple-forum directory before I could browse to the site… Here is the error:

WordPress database error You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1 for query SELECT display_name FROM wp_sfmembers WHERE user_id= made by include_once WordPress database error You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1 for query SELECT post_title FROM wp_posts WHERE ID= made by include_once

This is the particulars;

PHP version - 5.2.5 - fast cgi

MySql Version - 5.0.45

Windows 2003 Server SP 2 running IIS

Ironically, this is the same server (and database server) that my main site is running on, and everything is running fine…

Thx

Kevin

What version of SPF is this? This should not happen with 3.1.3.

if 3.1.2 then it is actually a harmless bug. if you activate and then go to the admin > Forum and install it it does no damage. But 3.1.3 should remove the bug anyway.

This is 3.13, and cannot get beyond this error.

meaning I cannot load wp-admin, or the website period until I either delete the directory or rename directory (disabling the plugin)

Weird. This is a first on 3.1.3.

You say you got this on activation? So the forum was not installed? And this was a totally clean, new install?

if it wasn't installed then there should be no tables… Mr Papa resolved this old error in 3.1.2 so I need to ask him about this later…

Brand new Wordpress 2.6 install on new website instance in IIS, and clean database… Did the 5 minute WP install, downloaded software (directly to server), unzipped to plugins directory, and attempted to activate…

very odd…  main thing that worries me here is IIS… we dont have any way to test that configuration…  and this doesnt sound like the same error you referred to Andy, or at least the error messages are slightly different…  and it wouldnt have aborted the activation…  it was actually post activation…

what is the permalink structure set to?

Hi Steve

The default (?p=123)structure… I literally went from Wordpress Installation to SPF activation….

Any chance you could send Andy and I what the database tables (only the spf tabeles - ones that start with sf) look like after the aborted activation?  Make sure to send to both because we are in diff parts of the World and Andy can look at it now, while I am at work for another four or five hours (just enjoying some lunch)…  I can PM you the email addresses if you dont have them…

dont think we have yet had an error where the activation caused this kind of issue, so would be nice to understand…

There wont be any tables…. Not on activation only…. Which is why I am puzzled.

no tables, as Andy says… Just the stock 10 tables for Wordpress 2.6

Like I said, I have my main site on the same server, and the same database server, working fine. But, I imported that database in, I did not go through the install procedure…

i think i have some problem,

1st time when i instal spf, there's error said

WordPress database error You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1 for query SELECT display_name FROM wp_sfmembers WHERE user_id= made by include_once

but at the bottom, there's button and it said instal done. i can setup my forum and setting everything so i ignore that error message.

but then i have problem about notification email, new registered user didn't receive notification email from my site.. i though the problem was in my email setting or wp setting but when i tried to registered from wordpress register not from forum.. i get email notification and the username and password can be used in forum.. but when i register in forum, i didn't get the notification email.

another problem is, after i post topic.. i can't edit it.. and the locked topic cannot unlocked.. i can't modify on topic i've posted.

my friend said it bcause database error, but honestly i'm noobs about database things.

so, what should i do? i've tried instal phpbb3 and smf before.. but then when i try spf, i really like it very much. could u help me to solve my problem?

my particulars:

php version 5.2.5

mysql version 5.0.51a-community

operating system linux

this is my forum : http://ayodancer.web.id/

First question - are you still getting the db error message or has it vanished now? I believe it is looking for your own data (assuming you are thre admin) so make sure that the deatils in the Forum options > Admin tab are correct (your ID etc).

As to the mail issue - we use the same routines that WP use. Which have been known to fail. First off - go to the Forum Options > Email tab and make sure that the details in there are correct - it may be as simple as that.

I also have the same problem. I just installed spf 3.1.3 (first time installing spf) on my WordPress 2.6. And then after I activated it (I haven't installed it yet), there's this error message on top of the admin menu bar of WordPress:

WordPress database error You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1 for query SELECT display_name FROM wp_sfmembers WHERE user_id= made by include_once WordPress database error You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1 for query SELECT post_title FROM wp_posts WHERE ID= made by include_once X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.0-8+etch11 Expires: Wed, 11 Jan 1984 05:00:00 GMT Last-Modified: Mon, 18 Aug 2008 02:15:04 GMT Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate, max-age=0 Pragma: no-cache Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8

I didn't want to mess around with it, as I don't really understand about databases, so I deactivated the spf plugin, and the error message disappears. My question is, is it safe to continue the spf installation? Would it mess my blog's database? I usually use spf on my friend's blog, and so far I love the plugin. Could you please help me to install it on my blog?

Here're my details:
PHP version 5.2.0-8+etch11
MySQL version 14.12 Distrib 5.0.32
Linux Operating System

Thank you very much.

kevinay: yes - it's safe. I am not quite sure why a few people get this error message but it is harmless and will disappear when you actually perform the install.

nyunye: You say 'Still I didn't receved the email notification'. What email notification are you expecting? You are the admin yes? I thought we were talking about other users registration emails…?

@YellowSwordfish: Thanks! I'm able to install the plugin successfully and the error message disappears. I'll report back if I find some other error. =D

Hello all,

First, thanks a lot for this wonderful tool. That's exactly what i was looking for my website.

I don't know if i'm doing this right, but i follow this thread as i encounter the same problem. But the answers given didn't solve mine.

I installed SPF a few days ago without any problem. But today, i've had this message on the pages of my website and in my admin panel.

- I've followed the step-by-step installation.

- I've tried to uninstall and reinstall, without success. I've also tried to deactivate every plugin, without more success.

- Also, my ID in the option panel is correct. So i'm a bit confused and as i told you, until yesterday, it was working perfectly.

- The error message appear as soon as the installation button appears:

WordPress database error: [Got error 134 from storage engine]
SELECT option_id, autoload FROM wp_options WHERE option_name = 'rewrite_rules'

, which do not disappear when the installation is over.

- Then I can see the forum on my website but when i try to login/logout or to do anything else, there's this message error : Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/faguohon/www/wp-includes/wp-db.php:517) in /home/faguohon/www/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 624

- I've got Wassup & a Contact Form, i've deactived those plugins which seem to be incompatable.

Thank you in advance.

As admin you can edit ALL posts. To the left of the strip of icons above each posts is a 'tool' icon. You will find the edit option in there. if you do not have the tool icon then it needs turning on in options. Read the online help section 'Admin Tools' for full explanations.

I just tried to register on your site and I can't. The process does not complete so rather than not sending out emails it looks more like the regitsration is being stopped by something. This may be another plugin or perhaps a redirection that is being disallowed. I have no idea which that could be but the redirection of the registration form is being stopped. So the process never completes.

Tom: Neither of these errors originate with the forum - they are not our db queries. But  we have always had problems co-existing with Wassup and i would suggest that might be the problem. I would deactivate Wassu and then check back with the forum. But clear your browser cache and run a few different pages of the forum to see if that helps.

Failing that you will need to find which component is generating these error messages.

(These are nothing to do with this thread by the way)

Good evening,

Thank you for your very fast answer. Well, i've deactivated Wassup but it still doesn't work.

It has something to do with my db, but i don't know what. I'll look for elsewhere, thanks again anyway.

OK I have been reading up and here is what you need to do. You need access to yoiur database via phpMyAdmin. You would usually have this via your host (cPanel or the equivalent) but if not there is an excellent WP plugin you can search for and install.

One of your tables has a corruption. With phpMyAdmon - when it lists the database tables, at the bottom you can 'check all' and then select 'check table' command from the drop down box. After that follow your nose. It will report  any problem and you can perform a 'repair' operation from the same list of options.
