I realize this may not be possible, and if so, that's ok. However, it's been asked by many of my readers, so I thought I'd give it a chance.
Main site: http://www.stolendroids.com
If you go to our main site, the color scheme and header will rotate with each refresh, load, etc you perform. People seem to like this and it's a built in feature of the theme we use. Is there a way for the color scheme of the main blog to change the color scheme of the forums as well?
I.E. if the blog changes to the green color scheme, can we have the forums change to green with it?
Also, is there any sort of code we can enter in as a sidebar widget on our main page that will show the X most recent forum topics?
Thank you.

no real easy way to do your color changing deal… would have to load a new skin or use some fancy js… very messy and not easy…
check your spf admin pages online help for template tags and how do display what you asked for… several options…

Hey,
Like Mr Papa said, the first part is a big deal. But for the second part, you can add an RSS widget to your sidebar using the feeds from the forum. You can even limit the feeds to a particular forum.

I don't know - if you constucted all the 'skins' you'd need then it's only as matter of changing an option record in the header before the CSS is called and loaded. But creating all the skins would take some time…

no need for rss widget - just extra overhead of another plugin…
one, there is already a recent topics spf widget included with the distribution and two, there are multiple other template tags included in spf that you can use in php text widgets that have different styling to show the recent topics…

There! Easy as anything can be, though I did have to root around a bit. It was the “tags” part of what you said that pointed me to it.
Thanks for your help!
(Idea for future feature . . . automatic upgrade abiulity, like other plugins have).

With rare exception (like FireStats) the ONLY plugins that automatically update are those hosted on wordpress.org. If you prefer not to do that then the WP team will not share their technology for the automation. And we prefer not to do that.

We do have an open ticket to investigate it and find a way to do it… no timeframe though…
