I'm wanting to have a community forum but to have it only accessible off of the main blog of my WPMU installation (domain.org and not avaialble for domain.org/blog/) I”m new so I still don't have things sorted out in terms of plugins available to the home page vs. individual blogs and differences between the mu plugins folder and plugins folder but I've run my own wp blog for 2 years now.

If anyone can provide just a 2 or 3 sentence run-down I'd be most appreciative….

Best regards,

Mark

Thank you for that link - I will read through that and it will likely answer my question. I did not see that doc so my apologies. If I still have a question I will come back this way.

Much appreciated.

Huh? What?

Sorry… I just got done releasing my own updated plugin for WP and WPMU and hadn't checked my mail for (what seems like) weeks.

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking for in this question, however, I run a WPMU install of SPF on my site as the home page at http://evbid.com/

Most of the FAQ deals with allowing SPF run on sub-blogs but all of those same instructions work if you remember that the MAIN blog is simply sub-blog #1.

If you choose not to allow OTHER sub-blog users access to the SPF plugin, that would certainly be your prerogative, and will not impede you from running SPF on the main blog.

Once Activated on your site, the forum page acts just like any other page on any other wordpress or WPMU install and can be selected as the home page in the dashboard under the general options menu.

If you would like to use the registration and login features of WPMU and have them integrated in your Forums, simply use the 'Custom Icons' feature that Andy has so thoughtfully included under the 'Custom' tab of the Forums Management page.

You can link to the blog's 'Registration' page at -> domain.com/wp-signup.php if you allow registrations.

You can also choose to link to wp-login.php or andy's own login page at your.forum.permalink?&action=login (with redirection available), to allow your users access to their blogs and your forums.

Radio:

Most helpful and thx so much for taking the time out to provide detail. That's all I needed along with the code changes in the FAQ which appear to be necessary….

Thx again.

I just saw the link Mr Papa provided to the version 2.1 of Simple Forums and MU.

Be sure to also see the FAQ for Simple:Press Forums v3.0.3 and MU

(No Code Changes Needed for 3.0.3 which is why I checked the link.)
