I'd like to set my forum up so that when I make a Wordpress post, it automatically links it and the comments to the forum, rather than keeping all the posts and comments separate. Is there a built-in way to accomplish that?

You can have the blog post create a forum topic but this will not affect comments. You could turn comments off of course and direct visitors to the forum topic you created if you wished.

I see in the settings under the “link” tab where I can set whether or not I want an excerpt created, but I can't figure out where to set it to just copy the whole post into the forum. I feel dumb because I'm sure it's really easy to do, but I've looked and just can't find it.

It uses the whole post if you DON'T check the excerpt option.

Is there any way to set it so that it automatically posts to the forum? I can just imagine the people writing on my site forgetting to set that option before they post.

Only by changing the code in the sf-links.php file that builds the little form and ensuring the checkbox is pre-checked.

Hello,

thanks for your work there, it's really nice to have a forum as well integrated as yours into wordpress :)

I was wondering if by any chance you had some plans in merging comments and forum posts when linked to a blog article. That would really be neat and i'm pretty sure many people would enjoy this option as it's pushing the integration even further and really makes the “Link to forum” option awesome.

Thanks again for your time and efforts !

As this is a beta version of the next release and, being beta, possibly has some bugs still to iron out I would welcome knowing what you did to create three post records of the same post? Can you tell me that please?

I believe what other people have done with regards to this question is to close the comments on their linked posts and direct people to the forum. We may consider adding a tag that would display a forum thread from a linked post in the comment area however…

Hi again,

sorry for the multiplosting, really didn't notice as each time i pressed “save new post” all i got was a blank page with errors, i'm going to submit this post to get the errors and paste them in another one. Also, it seems like i can't post with firefox, i can write the title but can't get into the content area. It's working fine with IE6 though.

Anyways, the idea of tags seems like a nice idea. Looking forward for it.

well, you posted these last two as member instead of the original three that were as guest and went into moderation… any recollection at all of the error messages?
