More Duplicate Content Discussion

I love Simple:Press Forum, and am still keeping my fingers crossed that the many duplicate content issues will be remedied with the next update.  Please take this as constructive criticism . . .

I notice that on the “most recent posts” lists on the forum homepage, when you click on a post it takes you to http://www.blog.com/forum/example/post/page-1/post-4010/#p4010.  Meanwhile, if you go to the specific forum itself and click on the same post, it takes you to http://www.blog.com/forum/example/post/page-1.

Why not just make every link to that post point to http://www.blog.com/forum/example/post/page-1 instead?  I know it might be slightly more convenient for the reader to start them off at the beginning of the post instead of the top of the page, but I'm certain that this is causing huge duplicate content penalties in the search engines for users of Simple:Press Forum.

The issue of duplicate content has come up many times here, but I wanted to plead my case just one more time.  I really like Simple:Press and have no intention of getting rid of it, but I can tell from analyzing my traffic that I'm losing a lot of potential visitors because of the unnecessary duplicate content that the forum creates.

Keep up the great work you are doing, but please consider getting rid of the duplicate content issues on the next update!  I feel that every time the duplicate content issue is brought up here, the administrator and moderators don't really take it very seriously.  It really is a serious issue, though, for those of us trying to increase our organic search traffic.

Thanks again!

Just two quick responses. First - we take everything seriously. Second - this issue has most ceratinly not come up 'many times'…

Thank you for the response!  I hope you'll decide to get rid of the duplicate content, but I'll continue to use Simple:Press either way.  It's an amazing plugin.
