Hi all!

I have installed a fresh version of Wordpress and ofc isntalled Simple:press forum.

Everything works out just fine, except one little problem…

I'll be running a site with aloot of members and i want more people, than just me. To be able to add members to different usergroups. As for now i am the only one able to do this (i am the Forum Admin). I have tryed added another one as Admin, Moderator give full access etc. But nothing works. He just cant Manage usergroups. He is however able to edit post etc, that he is supposed to do.

Any ideas for this?

Thanks for a great plugin!

No - I'm sorry but this is the way it is currently. The next version introduces multiple admins.

damn that was exactly why i was coming here to post.

i need to have certain forums locked down to certain individuals and the moderator can't add people to these groups.

it stinks that you have to make someone an admin on the wordpress side because then that person has access to all the wordpress settings and could potentially break something.

Will version 4 also give the posibility to assign moderators or administrators to different forums?  In others words have someone who's a moderator to forum A but not to Forum B.

I would like to offer organizations in my sector which don't have a forum on their site to host a forum on my site.  I would like to give them moderation access to their forum but not to the other forums.

Does that make sense?

Cheers,

Lizzy

v3 already supports different moderators on different forums…  just create different moderator user groups and assign them only to the forums you want them to moderate…  this will remain the same in v4…

however, we will be adding multiple admins…  this will primarily affect the backend…  you will be able to assign admins different capabilities which means grant them access on a admin by admin basis to the different admin panels in the backend…  all admins will have the same front end permissions as the current admin…

hopefully, we will have the first v4 beta out in 2 or 3 weeks…

regarding your multiple admins:

I found a workaround: I use rolemanager so I make i.e. one of my editors to an admin, which automatically raises him to a forum admin, then I use rolemanager to take away all privileges that he has gotten by his admin status :-)

Look out for a similar sounding post of mine in this forum, I think I described it in a bit more detail there…

but that requires extra plugin that wont be needed in v4 Wink

we actually looked at incorporated support for role manager but was easier andmore straight forward to do ourselves…  hopefully we can get that beta out in 2 or 3 weeks…
