I got this error while installing:::
WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1]
UPDATE wp_users SET display_name='' WHERE ID=
Problem with Install
Simple:Press Forum was unable to either create or move the default Avatars to their correct location due to your permission settings. You will need to finish this step manually.
Create a folder under 'wp-content' named 'forum-avatars' (exactly as shown here). This may already exist. Move the three default avatars from 'wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/avatars' to this new folder.
Finaly, ensure the new folder has full write permissions.
PLEASE HELP!
I installed SMF and as soon as the installer finished I uploaded the plugin and installed SPF.
I'm using WP 2.6.2
and I just installed SPF-3.13 yet to upload the fixes for 3.14

I believe this is one error that some people have encounrtered on install that is harmless. The real question is, once installed do you still get the error statement?
The next part here is self-explanatory. We could not create the folder so you need to do this manually.
And fnally = I am not sure what 'SMF' is…?

I installed and after install that was a error on top of the avatar error.
When I login on my site and then click the forum button it is not logged in.
When I login on the forum it doesnt let me. It says the user does not exist.
Do you have to create your account in the forum then go back to the site and login?
seems like the plugin doesnt even work at all.
Test account info.
Username: Test
Password: testing

OK - first up - the problem with the 'Avatars' folder is NOT an error. if there is an error it is more likely in your permissions settings. If you actually read the message you will find that out.
The actua error (your first one) IS an error but as already stated should not be a problem once installed. You did NOT however, answer my question about this so I can't really help.
Next - you have given me a login name and password but no link or address to your site.
As to logins. These are taken directly from the WP users table. If a user exists in there then you can use those credentials to login unless somethign dod go wrong with the database upon install. Which is why I need the answer to my question.
I am still curious what SMF has got to do with it as well.

(a) Does the directory and file exist? (tinymce/sf-tinyinit.php). According to the message it does not.
(b) If it DOES exist, whatc are the permissions for the directory set to?
If it does NOT exist, then I can only suggest uploading all the plugin files again.

I have tried to change access rights on 777 - have changed nothing. I have reinstalled - have changed nothing.
what i can do else?

This folder it has not appeared on a server: ( but it is in archive !! :)))))
I download it separately and now the forum works

I am sorry but there is a language problem here and I do not speak Russian.

Попробую на русском спросить:)
1. Не могу найти как создать темы на форуме…да и сами форумы не открываются…
2. форум не оформлен в виде таблицы…просто текст….
3. когда нажимаю на название форума, открывается страница на которой отображены подряд страницы “контакты, услуги, главная” и самая первая страница форума…все в кучу…
если зайти сюда http://mir-svadbi.ru/forum/ , то видна проблема (2), если нажать на какой-нибудь форум, то видно и (1) и (3) проблемы…Даже не представляю где искать разгадку….может у меня еще какой-нибудь файл не скопировался:))))
заранее спасибо:)

Ok I fixed our forum but I am having huge issues styling it to my theme. My wordpress 2.6.2 version seems to not pick up my newly created theme file.
Also if you look at our forum the topic of each section is in grey. I think this is getting pulled from the websites theme and overidding the forum theme. Is there a direct file to the forum that i can send users to?
I.e. http://www.mobiriot.com/forum/filename.php
since I can't style it the normal way I'd like to just create my own file including the header, forum and footer.

I am not really following you here. The first statement ('seems to not pick up my newly created theme file'), seems to be contradicted by your second ('overidding the forum theme'). So what are we talking about here?
I get the impression you have created your own forum 'skin'. If this is the case and if it is not being found and loaded then have you followed the basic rules? The stylesheet filename has to be exactly the same as the folder you have created the skin in… Is this your problem?

Я думаю, его проблема заключается в три раза:
Он может быть с использованием пользовательских шаблонов страниц, которые не предусмотрены the_content ();
Он, возможно, не загрузили полный архив (пропавших без вести скинов);
Его форум не отображается для гостей.
За исключением, что без доступа к админ, я не знаю.
Пожалуйста, простите мою формулировку, я использовал Переводчик Google, чтобы помочь мне говорить об этом.

Still trying to identify the full issue, at this point.
I mentioned a few things I thought it might be.
1) He may be using a custom page template which isn't displaying the_content();
2) He may not have uploaded the complete archive (missing skins);
3) His forum does not display for guests.
Other than that, without admin access, I don't know.

Radio,
is he running a translated version? if so, he may have changed the name of the default guests user group which causes a problem… the fix for this issue can be found in this thread at post 9…

ISSUE 1:the styling i mean the page style. in my page style dropdown box it wont display my forum.php style which i created to show the header.php the content and the footer.
no sidebars.
wordpress seems to just not be picking it up
ISSUE 2:the font color is being applyed from my themes css file not the forums skin file. i changed it to orange in the forum files but it displays as gret

Проблема №2 решилась. действительно папки skins не было на сервере, скопировала - теперь таблицы и все остальное оформление появилось.
1 и 2 проблемы остались 
Да, форумы и группы форумов созданы, права выставлены: Guests => Standard Access
Radio, куда я могу выслать пароль от админа сайта?

Alright I got rid of the side bars in my page. My sidebars where being called from the header and footer. so i put
if(is_page('Forum')) :else : get_sidebar();endif;
Now I just need to change the width of the forum
