Hi
Installed 3.03 and worked with it for a day no problem.
http://polocrossecanada.com/sf-forum
Then I changed the title in manage pages in wordpress and it now shows as (no Title) and doesn.t show in the side bar menu properly.
So I deleted the page and created a new page, it then shows properly. But as soon as I goto manage pages and out again it show as No Title and disapears from the menu.
I disabled all plugins and recreated the page using the procedure below but as soon as I active only the simple form plugin and manage the page the page title disapears.
I assume The slug is
is the now the permalink in wordpress 2.5 “simplepress-forum“
The page index number is the post number in the address bar as it is not on the index list any more post=49
and entering this info manage page - options - admin - Forum Page Details as
Forum Page ID: 49
Forum Page Slug: “simplepress-forum“
and then going to toolbox and updating the permalink structure should correct everything.

You've kind of lost me a bit as I am not sure of you are saying you've resolved all this or not. But… for starters I have absolutely no idea where a label of 'no Title' would come from. That sounds to me like whatever you are using to list your pages on your sidebar is providing that monika.
Leaving aside any unforseen conflicts (i.e., other plugins or theme) you can use whatever title you wish and whatever slug you wish. The only requirement is that if you change the page slug and/or page id you resolve those in the forum > options > admin tab entering the slug identically (including case). After such a change update the forum permalink from the forum > options > toolbox tab. It may also be worth updating your site permalinks prior to performing the forum updating as lots of info regarding pages is cached.
So if you do all of this are things not working as ecpected?

Andy, being at work, I dont have time to dig into it, but what he is saying is if you go to the link he gives you and then look at the top left sidebar item (Pages) and look at the fourth entry (between History and Calendar), you can partially see the folder looking graphic… the hyperlink for it is to his simple press forum… However, its not displaying any text for the page title….
My initial question would be, what plugin/function are you using to display that Pages Widget?

Gotcha
Then it's not just the pages widget. There seems to be some sort of text widget after that which is also displaying a link to the forum. Afraid I am not that famliar with widgets as I don't use them…

Thanks for looking so quickly.
I give the page a name and go through the procedure you oulined and it works. But as soon as I go to manage pages wordpress shows that page s no title in the index list, click on the page and the title is there, look on the web page and it shows as a half line entry.
I used the widget text to create a link to the forum page, but it doubles up on the first 2 forum topics and doesn't show the last 2.

That is very weird and not anything I have seen before. Out of interest, when you view the manage pages index list, is the forum page marked as 'published'? And are there any other plugins installed that may operate on 'page' records?

Does anyone else have any ideas?
Ah… hang on. If this is using wp_list_pages() in which there is a bug… what setting do you have for Forums > Options > Cutsom Tab > Page Title?

N o that's the browser title (a failure that is removed in 3.1). I am talking about the page title setting above that.

And have you changed that to see if it changes the sidebar? Sounds like an obvious thing to try.
My guess is that your sidebar page listing is using the built in wp tag 'wp_list_pages() which has had a bug in in since around WP 2.1 and that they seem unable to fix despite knowing it's there. I have tried to wprk around it best I can but ti is not always succesful.
So - if you uncheck the 'No Page Title' does the page title reappear?
