Greetings everyone,
I've been testing and using Simple: Press Forum with great success in my Capoeira website. We are moving from and old and useless MSN Community to this WP Powered site with a lot of acceptance.
Recently, I've managed to personalize and configure my forum but I'm not sure about upgrading to the last version because I fear to lose some of the CSS changes and most of the personalization options.
I'm using version 3.0.3 build 320 with WP 2.5.1. WP and S:PF successfully showing in Spanish.
Using structure-green as skin (with some CSS changes to show fonts bigger) and a personal two-en buttons in Spanish.
Shall I upgrade if everything is working just fine?
Is there any way to check which are going to be the files that are going to be overwritten and what should I backup to avoid losing data?
Is the structure-green CSS the same from my version to the latest so I can keep it and reuse it in the upgraded forum?
Am I going to have translation issues to spanish?
Hope you can answer these questions.
Thanks on advance!
LoG

I would recommend upgrading… most upgrades have been successful with no issues, but there have been a few…
One of the biggest changes in the 3.1.x series was a very significant improvment in performance… mysql queries were drastically reduced and throughput improved… but, more importantly, there have been several security fixes incorporated in the 3.1.x series…
As to the skin, yes there have been a few minor changes to that theme file… I hope you created a new skin with your changes because an upgrade will overwrite the old skin and any changes you made… most dealt with an issue with the .alt classes…
The biggest issue for you might be that the Spanish translator has not yet finished the 3.1.2 translation, so its not yet available… we are hoping soon…
The should I upgrade is always the toughest question to answer… personally, I almost always do, especially when security issues have been fixed, you have additional issues to consider…

Tnx for your answer Mr Papa.
I think I'll wait until the spanish translator is available, it's mandatory for our forum because many people don't speak english.
I've managed to create the modified structure-green as a new theme so I won't lose changes, but still I'll check further on the style sheet to see the changes in latest versions.
A last question:
Is there any way to auto-subscribe into a thread when you post a reply on it?
Am I wrong, or this feature isn't avialable yet?
See you around!

If you would like, I can email you the differences file if you are comfortable looking at those… will show you what minor changes need to be made… mostly two things - fixing .alt class for some td's and adding in one new class… just post back here if you want me to email it to you…

Hello Everyone,
I've managed to translate the 3.1.2 (build 340) to spanish… Testing in localhost and everything seems to be OK.
How can I submit my translation to you for revision and maybe to help other spanish-talking users with this?
Best Regards, Juanjo

Andy will need to contact you by email… I dont know if you are the original translator for that language or not… He usually gives the original translator some time before switching… he is on vacation, so give him some time to respond….
