i have another problem though.. how can i make it so that registered users don't have to fill in the spam protection part of a post?  in other words how can i remove that for the members…

keep looking at the options and permissions… lots of good things you can do…  and you dont have to grant full permissions… you can edit any of the permission sets that exist to customize the way you want…
