Struggling with Installation

Hi,

I installed Simple Forum 3.0 and was having some display issues so upgraded to 3.1.3. It seemed to work but the display issues remained. I decided to upgrade from MySQL 4.1.22 to MySQL 5.0.27 in case a database issue was the problem.  In the process I had to delete the simple forum tables because they were preventing an automated MySQL upgrade.

I upgraded MySQL, then copied a new instance of simple-forum files  into my WordPress plugin directory. I thought this would simulate a fresh installation. When I activated the plugin I got database errors and no link to install the plugin or create the database tables. You can see what it looks like at http://www.thelivingword.org/simpleForum.jpg.

I have no clue where to go from here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mike

You should have uninstalled it properly. Just removing the tables does not remove the option records which are the ones where the status is kept.

Check the full 'uninstall' option - deactivate the plugin (which will remove ALL data) and then reactvate and install.

Display 'issues' are 99% of the time due to conflucts with your WP theme and nearly always easy to correct. Well - usually anyway.

There are instructions for uninstalling in the online help and some hints on display problems as well.

Thanks.  I did not see the uninstall option before.  It installed properly this time.
