That leaves me bewildered. We have no problem on this site (for example) and in other tests.

Is it at all possible to get a link to your forums, please.

I'm still not convinced we're talking about a WP install as opposed to a WPMU install.

What version of Wordpress are we discussing here?

What role manager plugins are you useing (also, plugins like podcast do edit the default
roles )

Have you tried optimizing your database, or turning this ability off, then on again for moderators?

Have you tried moving your moderators out of the moderator role, then back in again?

I'm using WordPress 2.3.3 and no role manager plugins.

I just tried what you suggested with on and off and changing the moderator to member and back .. and it worked!

So.. it was simple thanks

Can you tell me if there is a limit to number of characters per post or some similar setting?

There is no way to specifiy a character limit for posts… I can add it to the future feature request list though…
