Hello,
first of all thank you for the great job on Simple:Press! And after that I have a question (I searched the forums but found nothing that helps): is it possible to use Simple:Press as commenting system? If so, what is the “best practice” of doing it? My needs are very simple, only want to link a post to simple:press forum (using the SPF functionality), disable comments on that post and automatically have a link added in post page showing the number of forums reply (something like: “There are x comments. Add your own”).

Thanks,
Archeoblog

You can link a blog post to the forum (when you write the blog post you can opt to have it create a new topic in a selected forum) and you can also do this the other way around. This sort of means you can use ot for blog post comments if you wished.

You can see this on my 'Home' page (at the moment) with the most recent posting there.

You are right, obviously :) I missed this because I have upgraded from simple forum 2 to simple:press forum 3.1 yesterday and it seems to have lost all the old “link to forum” links from the blog posts (no problem, I had only a couple of them).

One more thing: the italian translation misses the translation of

        add_option('sflinkblogtext', '%ICON% Join the forum discussion on this post');
        add_option('sflinkforumtext', '%ICON% Read original blog post');

and so I have solved using a quick&dirty hack. I ran this script as administrator

< ?php

include(”../wp-config.php”);
update_option('sflinkforumtext', '%ICON% Leggi la notizia originale nel blog');
update_option('sflinkblogtext', '%ICON% Commenta la notizia e partecipa alla discussione');

? >

but I think is better to contact the translator and ask him to include the correct localization of the links text.

Thank you for your job and time,

The link text is not something that CAN be translated because it is user-definable. You can set whatever you want to be in there in the forum options. That is how you get it into your own language.

As I have said so many times before to users with these sorts of questions: Explore the forum Options. This is they way you get things how you want them.
